Across all industries we are striving to achieve a safer environment.  From transport companies to pharmaceutical and from petrochemical to facilities management the same questions are asked:

“How can we improve safety in work environments that have the potential to be hazardous?"

“How can I control this problem?”

To highlight the importance of operating a safety management system we must concentrate on certain aspects when performing work.

  • Planning:
    • How do you plan the work for any particular day?
  • Control:
    • What controls do you have once the work has begun?
    • When, exactly is the work going to be carried out?
    • Where, precisely is the work to be undertaken?
    • Who is taking responsibility for the work being performed?
    • How, is the work being performed?
  • Report:
    • How do you report the work that you have done, or even the work someone else has undertaken in both an effective and timely manner?

What would happen if the planning, control or reporting failed?

Injuries and deaths, cause disruption and often lower the morale within the company Legal, the law is changing, the government consultation paper, ‘Reforming the law on involuntary manslaughter’ has put forward four offences to replace the current law, from ‘corporate killing’ to ‘killing by gross carelessness’. There are also financial implications to consider in the short term, compensation or fines and in the long term increased insurance. There is also the potential for loss of future business with publications that now name and shame companies convicted of safety-related offences. But no matter what happens the question left asking is

“How can I control this problem?”

The answer lies with a simple yet powerful safety management system, Safetrak® which offers you the control needed in the modern workplace.
